What practices should take from this
Treat material capability changes as a fresh review. Revisit intended use, data access, evidence, user training, patient communication, monitoring and the contract. Decide whether the feature should be enabled at all, piloted with a subset or restricted by role.
This is not resistance to innovation. It is change control—the same discipline practices use when a clinical process or medication workflow changes.
Create a quarterly vendor review and require vendors to identify meaningful model or feature updates. Governance must move at the speed of the product.
